When is the Last Day to File 2014 Taxes?

Tax Day is April 15, 2015. File your 2014 Taxes by the deadline or you’ll end up paying late fees.

April 15th is one of the most recognized dates to US taxpayers. It’s Tax Day or the last day to file your current year tax return.

After April 15, 2015 your 2014 Tax Return will be considered late. If you’re expecting a refund from your 2014 taxes, you won’t be penalized for filing after the April 15 deadline. However, if you have tax due, you’ll end up paying IRS late fees.

To avoid filing late, create an account on RapidTax and file your 2014 Taxes before the April 15 deadline.

I can’t file my taxes by the last day, can I get a tax filing extension?

If for some reason you can’t file your taxes by April 15, 2015, you can instead file an extension. You’ll have to file Form 4868  [Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return] by the filing deadline.

If you do request an extension, your last day to file 2014 taxes will be extended by six months to October 15, 2015.

It’s good to know, when filing an extension, you will have to estimate your tax liability and pay an amount (even if it’s just $5) towards your tax due by April 15th. When you do file your taxes (by October 15th), you’ll have to pay the IRS interest on top of your tax due.

Can I e-file my 2014 Taxes on or after the April 15 deadline on RapidTax

Yes, you can in fact file your taxes on RapidTax on April 15, 2015 or after. Although we do not advise tax filers to wait until the last day to file taxes, we will accept tax returns submitted on April 15, 2015.

Filers submitting after April 15th, will be considered late, but will be able to e-file until October 15, 2015.

The bottom line is that the last day to file 2014 Taxes is April 15, 2015. After this date you’ll face IRS late fees.

Don’t procrastinate until the last day to file. Instead, be proactive and get your 2014 tax return out of the way now on RapidTax. Then, you’ll have a reason to celebrate!

    1. Hi Darrell,

Keep in mind that you can e-file your current year tax returns until October of this year. This is a bit simpler of a process than paper-filing and mailing your returns to three different addresses. You can e-file your returns right online with RapidTax!

If you are paper-filing, you will need to mail your Maryland state tax return to:
      Comptroller of MarylandRevenue Administration Division
      Taxpayer Service Section
      110 Carroll Street
      Annapolis, MD 21411

You will mail your Virginia state tax return (this is the address to mail to if you are expecting a refund) to:
      Virginia Department of Taxation
      P.O. Box 1498
      Richmond, VA 23218-1498

You will need to mail your federal tax return to the IRS. Click their website link HERE and select your resident state from the list. You will then be directed to an address to mail your federal return.
